Intumescent collars are to be fastened around plastic pipes where they penetrate fire-rated floor and walls, and ceilings.
Typically, firestop collars provide a retaining ring which contains an intumescent compound that expands when heated to a certain temperature. The strong compressive force exerted by the intumescent material forms a fireproof seal, closing off the void, and creating an insulating barrier.
There are different types of firestop collars for different applications (for plastic pipes, copper pipes, general building services, electrical cables, etc), and they can be attached to the wall, ceiling or floor. Other considerations include the firestop collar size, ease of installation, and so on.
Our UL Classified Firestop Pipe Collars are manufactured from a high-performance intumescent material bonded to the inside of a steel sleeve, which on exposure to heat from a fire will rapidly expand inwards to squeeze the collapsing plastic pipe until the aperture is completely sealed.
Pipe collars are tested in accordance with the performance requirements of can provide 3-hour fire resistance for PVC, CPVC, FRPP, and ABS pipes.
These UL Classified Firestop Pipe Collars are light and compact, easy to install, maintenance free and are used in multi- story office buildings, flat level developments, hospitals and hotels, and anywhere plastic soil and waste pipes pass through fire compartment walls and floors.
